Figs At Last

When tragedy strikes, like the church shooting in Grand Blanc, our first instinct is often to ask, Why? Why them? Why now? Why would God allow this?

It’s an ancient question.

The people around Jesus were asking it too. They bring Him news of a massacre, worshippers murdered by Pilate while offering their sacrifices. They’re grasping for meaning, wanting to know whether those victims somehow deserved it. It’s not curiosity but self-protection. If we can find a reason, maybe we can keep it from happening to us.
